It has been a successful August for fundraising in Maine.
On August the 18th the Champion the Cure Challenge was held in Brewer, Maine to raise money for Eastern Maine Medical Center’s CancerCare of Maine at the Lafayette Family Cancer Center. The Lafayette Hotels team had over 60 members and to date has raised over $65,000 for the cause. The event as a whole raised over $325,000 and included nearly 1,000 participants and volunteers.
The Looking Glass Restaurant at the Bluenose Inn hosted the 4th Annual Cancer Research Culinary Event in Bar Harbor, Maine on Sunday, August 19. Executive Chef Arturo Montes of the Looking Glass Restaurant at the Bluenose Inn, welcomed special guest, Executive Chef & Owner Frank McClelland from L’Espalier Restaurant in Boston. The event raised over $13,000 for EMMC’s CancerCare of Maine at the Lafayette Family Cancer Center.

Since November of 2009 Logan Lafayette has been collecting cans and bottles to help raise money for cancer research at the Lafayette Family Cancer Center. Logan has a collection area next to the Coffee Break Café on Main Road North in Hampden, Maine. He has made several dozen trips to the redemption center (as his careful record keeping and receipts will attest to). After returning over 24,000 cans he has turned in $1,213.85 to Cancer Care of Maine to help fund research. His goal is to raise over $2,000. If you have any cans or bottles you wish to donate, please feel free to drop them off … we all can help Can Cancer!
